If you’re in an abusive relationship, keep an emergency bag nearby. Fill it with clothes, cash, prescriptions, important papers… whatever you would need to take with you if you had to leave at a moment’s notice. Store the bag anywhere safe and hidden from your abuser.

6. Remember That Your Safety Is the Most Vital

Ask yourself, what is the safest way to get out? “What is the best thing I can do for my safety and for my kids’ safety?” Murray explains. “View the whole thing through that lens – there’s nothing more vital than your and your kids’ safety.”
